Maria Eleni Katsanou honored as Poster Award winner at ANAKON 2025
At the renowned conference, she will be honored for her work on the penetration depth and toxicity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in barrier-damaged skin
Leipzig, March 13-15, 2025 - ANAKON 2025, a renowned conference of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), once again offered scientists from a wide range of disciplines the opportunity to present their latest research results. Among the outstanding participants, Maria Eleni Katsanou stood out as the winner of the Poster Award.
Ms. Katsanou received this award for her excellent presentation of her analytical research entitled: "TXRF Diffusion of titanium dioxide in human skin for sunscreen toxicity assessment". This award, sponsored by the journal "Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry", recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of analytical science.
At the Clausthal Center for Materials Technology (CZM), Maria Eleni Katsanou is currently working on a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The aim of the project is to investigate the penetration depth and toxicity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in barrier-damaged skin after UV exposure. This research is of great importance as such nanoparticles are often used as photocatalytically active elements in sun creams. There is an intensive collaboration with the University Medical Center Rostock under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Steffen Emmert.
