Summary
This scientific report provides an up-to-date overview of the research work carried out at the Clausthal Center for Materials Technology (CZM) in the period from 2013-2015.
As an interdisciplinary research center, the CZM pools the expertise of Clausthal University of Technology in the field of materials. The focus is on the production of innovative multifunctional material systems. Technical materials such as metals, ceramics and glasses as well as polymer materials form the basis for this. Approaches to implementing new functionalities and properties range from targeted material modification (grain refinement, nanostructuring, etc.) to cross-material group combinations to create multi-material systems.
In addition to pure material and material production, the processing of materials and materials into components through forming, joining or coating processes, etc. is also considered, as well as the development of complete process chains for the production of entire structures. Another focus is on the prediction and characterization of the properties of multifunctional material systems and their recycling at the end of the product life cycle.
In addition, the report provides an insight into the work of the doctoral colleges "Materials and Processes" and "Surface Technology and Functionalization" based at CZM as an important component of scientific training in the field of materials technology at CZM and Clausthal University of Technology.
