MS Multi Mat - BioReg: Additive manufacturing technologies for the production of composite polymer-protein scaffolds for cell purification and for the production of "biologized scaffolds"
The BioReg project is pursuing a new, highly innovative approach to cell separation through the production of consumables based on additive manufacturing. The aim of the project is to develop complex and flexible 3D-printed structures whose surfaces are filled with functional elements (proteins). The proteins themselves are introduced into the printing process (production of co-polymers), so that the previously used separation matrix based on agarose is no longer required and is freely designed in the production process of the separation units together with a geometry suitable for cell separation. The resulting functional structures in the form of spherical packings and complex self-twisting arrangements are then biologically evaluated and used in freely combinable segments for the optional separation of different cell fractions in combination with the FABian® for cell separation and developed into a marketable overall system. IBA can thus add an innovative variant to the cell separation technologies developed in-house and further consolidate its market position in this area.
