Online lecture event "From research for practice"

In cooperation with the DVS (German Welding Society) Lower Saxony/Bremen regional association, the Clausthal Center for Materials Technology and the Institute of Welding and Cutting Processes held the first online lecture event "From research to practice" on 10 December.

As the title suggests, current research topics were prepared and presented to a broad industrial audience. The aim of the event is to establish a link between the investigations from the research operation and the practice of the industry. In addition to current knowledge for the industrial partners, new starting points for future investigations may be created as part of the discussion.

During this event, parts of the current research topics of mechanical joining, additive manufacturing and the welding of steels in automotive engineering were discussed. Dr. Henning Wiche introduced the host institutions (CZM, ISAF), including current topics beyond joining technology. The other presentations up for discussion were "State of the art and trends in mechanical joining processes" by M.Sc. Christian Koch, "Additive manufacturing of copper-based composite materials using industrial laser systems" by M.Sc. Philipp Neef and "Arc welding of galvanized chassis steels" by M.Sc. Maren Sarpe. The presentations could be followed by the approximately 30 participants of the event via video conference. Although it was the first digital event of this kind, the event went smoothly and the feedback was consistently positive, so nothing stands in the way of continuing the series of events.
