MS Multi Mat - BioReg: Additive manufacturing technologies for the production of composite polymer-protein scaffolds for cell purification and for the production of "biologized scaffolds

The BioReg project pursues a new, highly innovative approach for cell separation via the fabrication of consumables based on additive manufacturing. The aim of the project is to develop complex and flexibly applicable 3D-printed structures whose surfaces are occupied by functional elements (proteins). In this process, the proteins themselves are introduced into the printing process (production of co-polymers), so that the previously used agarose-based separation matrix is omitted and freely designed in the manufacturing process of the separation units together with a geometry suitable for cell separation. The functional structures obtained in this way in the form of sphere packs and complex arrangements twisted in on themselves are then biologically evaluated, used in freely combinable segments for the optional separation of different cell fractions in combination with the FABian® for cell separation and developed into a marketable overall system. IBA can thus add an innovative variant to the cell separation technologies it has developed in-house and further consolidate its market position in this field.
